Job summary

The Citizen Hotel, Autograph Collection in Sacramento, CA seeks a Maintenance Engineer to keep guestrooms and public areas in top condition. You’ll manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical and related systems, perform preventive maintenance, and handle carpentry tasks as needed.

You will respond to equipment issues and emergencies with calm, safety-minded action, following OSHA guidelines and maintaining a safe, clean environment for guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in hotel maintenance or a related field preferred.
• Trade license (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license required, with an acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on plumbing, HVAC, electrical and other systems in guest rooms and public areas.
• Handle minor carpentry, painting, and furniture repairs to keep the property beautiful and fully operational.
• Respond quickly to equipment issues, leaks, and emergencies such as fire alarms and power outages while prioritizing guest safety.
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines, move heavy objects safely, climb ladders, and keep work areas clean and organized.

KEY SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Technical & Preventive Maintenance Powerhouse: Take charge of daily inspections, repairs, and fine‑tuning across our hotel’s plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other systems—catching small issues before they become big ones. Perform preventive maintenance in guest rooms, common spaces, and on essential equipment (from refrigerators to ice machines), keeping everything running smoothly for an exceptional guest experience. Handle minor carpentry, painting, and furniture repairs to ensure our hotel remains both beautiful and fully operational.
• Quick-Fix Hero: Jump into action to solve equipment hiccups, leaks, and those mysterious electrical issues—no problem too puzzling! Tackle emergencies like fire alarms and power outages with cool confidence, always putting guest safety front and center.
• Safety Superpowers: Move objects over 50 lbs., scale ladders, and power through physically demanding tasks with strength and stamina. Follow OSHA safety guidelines when wielding tools, handling chemicals, and operating machinery—safety first, always! Keep work areas spotless and safe, with proper storage for tools and hazardous materials to protect everyone.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in hotel maintenance or a related field preferred.
• Trade license (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) is highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license required, with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
