Job summary

LiquidPiston Inc. is searching for a Metallurgical Engineer in Suffield, CT, to lead materials-focused efforts in advanced engine design. This role involves selection and processing of high-performance materials for engine components, requiring deep expertise in metallic materials and coatings.

The ideal candidate will address unique materials challenges and collaborate with internal teams while overseeing the metallurgy lab. It is essential to have a Master's degree in a related field and extensive experience in the area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in materials selection, processing, and testing.
• Experience with aluminum, steel, magnesium, titanium, and MMCs.
• Familiarity with thermal barriers and welding for dissimilar metals.

Responsibilities

• Guide materials selection for high-performance engine components.
• Evaluate surface treatments and thermal barrier solutions.
• Lead tribological analysis to improve wear resistance.

Skills

Expertise with metallic materials

Knowledge of tribology and fatigue analysis

Ability to work independently

Hands-on experience with failure analysis

Education

MS or higher in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering

Tools

CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks)

Mechanical simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB)
