We’re hiring a Materials Engineer to support an automotive engineering and testing environment. This is a hands‑on position focused on materials evaluation, metallurgical analysis, component investigations, and engineering support.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong materials or metallurgy background and be comfortable working directly in a laboratory environment investigating metallic and non‑metallic components.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform materials and metallurgical evaluations of automotive and mechanical components
- Support investigations into component failures and material‑related performance issues
- Prepare specimens for metallographic examination, including sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching
- Conduct microscopic and macroscopic examinations of materials and components
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis to determine material characteristics and potential failure mechanisms
- Document test results, observations, conclusions, and technical findings
- Provide engineering teams with data used to support material selection, component design, qualification, and problem resolution
- Review material requirements, specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable standards
- Assist with recommendations for corrective actions based on laboratory findings
- Support development and improvement of material specifications and testing methods
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure testing activities are performed safely and accurately
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to resolve materials and component‑related technical issues
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately 3–5+ years of Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or closely related experience
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, materials testing, metallography, and failure analysis
- Hands‑on experience preparing and examining metallurgical samples
- Experience using microscopes and other laboratory analysis equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and technical standards
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root‑cause investigation skillsAbility to communicate technical findings clearly through written reports and discussions
