Job summary

Warren Cat is seeking an Engine Field Technician I in Midland, TX. You will provide high-quality repair service on equipment, meeting flat rate times and documenting work in the required systems.

You will diagnose issues, perform engine repairs, and verify operation post-service. Ideal candidates have a GED or high school diploma and 1–3 years related experience, with familiarity of CAT components and diagnostic tools.

  • Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate times and re-do metrics.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately.
  • Remove and install parts and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Timely parts and core returns with documentation.
  • Perform engine repairs and adjustments and test operations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely service reports and timecards.

Job description

The Engine Field Technician I is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
  • Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
  • Perform engine and component rebuild with limited supervision.
  • Accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Specific CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical and components.
  • Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software and order processing systems.
  • Ability to provide accurate quotes.
  • Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and on-call.
