Job summary

Warren CAT is seeking an Engine Field Technician I in Texas to provide high-quality repair service on equipment, ensuring timely responses to customer needs and delivering maximum value for work performed.

You will perform engine and component repairs, diagnose issues, and document service reports. Flexibility for shift work and overtime is required; strong tool and diagnostic software skills are essential. This role involves travel up to 10% and safety-sensitive work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years related experience or training.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools, air tools, and measurement instruments.
  • CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to provide accurate quotes and complete required paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
  • Perform engine and component rebuild with limited supervision.
  • Accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.

What You'll Do
  • Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
  • Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
  • Perform engine and component rebuild with limited supervision.
  • Accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.
What You'll Need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Specific CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical and components.
  • Knowledge of database software, internet software, manufacturing software and order processing systems.
  • Ability to provide accurate quotes.
  • Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and on-call.
