Job Title: Traveling Mechanical Assembler in Lafayette, IN

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will be manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.

Pay Breakdown

$25 an Hour x 40hr = $1,000 a week

$37.5 an Hour (OT) x 10 = $375 a week

Gross weekly pay: $1,375/week

Untaxed Per Diem: $150/7 days = $1,050 a week

Total weekly Pay before tax: $1,375 + $1,050 = $2,425

Total annual pay before tax: $2,425x 48 weeks = $116,400

Responsibilities

• Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools.
• Utilize specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, and electrical testing equipment.
• Manipulate engine components during the assembly process.
• Learn and apply technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Interpret blueprints and specifications for custom engine assemblies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment following safety protocols.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.
• Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment and DC tools.
• Mid-level minimum mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with CPU to follow engineering drawings and processes.
• Ability to pass written and hands‑on assessment during the training period.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, maintenance, and facilities.
• Familiarity with pneumatic tooling and torque equipment.
• No diploma required.
• Must score in the 21st percentile or above on the GL assessment.
