Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to deliver professional swim instruction and ensure a safe pool environment for members. You will follow the YMCA program, maintain rosters, track progress, and communicate with the Aquatics Director and parents.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS for the Professional Rescuer.
• Standard/Community First Aid certifications.
• Emergency Oxygen Administration.
• YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification or ARC Water Safety Instructor.

Responsibilities

• Instruct classes using the YMCA of the USA swim lesson program.
• Maintain safety of all class participants at all times.
• Keep class rosters and monitor daily attendance.
• Track progress of participants with skill assessments; issue certificates/progress reports.
• Prepare lesson/session plans prior to each session.
• Promote YMCA programs to members and discuss their needs.
• Respond to questions/concerns and resolve issues.
• Enforce pool policies and procedures; respond to emergencies.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; uphold safety and risk management policies.
• Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character and YMCA Core Values.
