Job summary

Birchwood Terrace Rehabilitation and HealthCare is seeking an Activities Assistant to support person-centered activity programming for our residents. You will assist the Activity Director, lead individual and group activities, and help run large events that promote socialization, comfort, and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Experience in recreational activities for older adults preferred.
• Ability to plan and lead individual and group activities.
• Capacity to coordinate with care team and Activity Director.
• Commitment to resident-centered, person-focused activities.
• Respect for resident privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activity Director with planning daily and monthly activities.
• Lead and participate in activities for individuals and groups.
• Provide person-centered activities based on residents' interests and needs.
• Use music, art, pet therapy, games, exercise, reminiscence, and other programs.
• Encourage participation to promote socialization and quality of life.
• Maintain records of activities and attendance.
• Prepare for events and decorate the facility as needed.
• Communicate observations to the Activity Director and care team.
