Job summary

Birchwood Terrace Rehabilitation and HealthCare is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our devoted team. You will support individualized activities, small group programs, and large events, working closely with the Activity Director and care team to enhance socialization and quality of life for residents.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, brings energy and creativity, and can organize engaging programs that respect residents’ interests and abilities in a long-term care

Qualifications

• Friendly, compassionate, and professional with residents, families, staff, volunteers.
• Enjoys working with older adults to create meaningful experiences in long-term care.
• Able to collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, and other staff.
• Demonstrates patience, flexibility, and coping skills with residents experiencing changes.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Two years of related experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activity Director with planning and implementing daily activities.
• Lead individual, small group, and large group activities.
• Provide person-centered activities based on resident interests and needs.
• Utilize music, art, games, reminiscence, and other programs.
• Encourage participation and promote socialization, independence, and comfort.
• Maintain records of activities and participation.
• Organize and store activity supplies and equipment.
• Prepare for events and decorate for celebrations.
• Communicate resident interests to the care team.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy.
• Perform duties in line with policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
