Job summary

Virginia Tech seeks a part-time 4-H Program Assistant to provide programmatic and administ­rative support for Greensville County and Emporia 4-H activities. This role is limited to 24 hours per week and assists with trainings, clubs, camps, and after-school programs while reporting to the 4-H Extension Agent.

Responsibilities include updating enrollment, greeting the public, handling inquiries, maintaining social media, and supporting volunteer recruitment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth of all backgrounds.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Well organized and able to work independently.
• Able to recruit, motivate, and engage volunteers.
• Willing to work with a team and community partners.
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of trainings, programs, and activities.
• Participate in after-school, in-school programs, clubs, camps, and workshops.
• Attend 4-H Junior Summer Camp and other duties as assigned.
• Update 4-H Online and general enrollment.
• Greet visitors, provide information, and assist the public with records and forms.
• Handle inquiries by phone or in person; forward to appropriate staff.
• Maintain 4-H program social media accounts.
• Assist with recruitment and management of volunteers.
• Perform related work as required.
