Job summary

Nyman Associates is seeking compassionate paraprofessionals to support students with academic, behavioral, and emotional needs in school settings. You will assist in specialized therapeutic environments, helping students with autism, trauma histories, or other challenges to develop essential skills.

You will collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement ABA/MTSS strategies, deliver SEL support, and help with daily routines and progress tracking, fostering a supportive learning

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs preferred.
• Familiarity with ABA, MTSS, social-emotional learning, or trauma-informed practices preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and work collaboratively with school staff.
• Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
• Passion for supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with behavioral and emotional needs, including those with autism, trauma histories, or significant behavioral challenges
• Implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and MTSS strategies to address behaviors and promote learning
• Providing social-emotional learning (SEL) support, often in small groups or one-on-one settings
• Building rapport and trust by consistently engaging students, even when behaviors are challenging
• Supporting academic and life skills instruction alongside behavioral interventions
• Preparing and maintaining behavioral data sheets to monitor student progress
• Assisting with daily school routines, including student arrivals, morning meetings, and classroom transitions
• Working with students on rotating assignments to support individualized academic, behavioral, and life skills goals
• Collaborating with teachers, behavioral specialists, and other school staff to provide consistent student support
