Job summary

Comal ISD is seeking a substitute tutor to support student mastery in assigned subjects. You will work with individual students or groups, coordinating with classroom teachers and campus administration to address areas of weakness identified through assessments.

The role emphasizes creating a positive, calm learning environment, maintaining records, and upholding school policies while modeling professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
• General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Tutor and work with individual students or groups in assigned subject(s).
• Work with classroom teacher and/or campus administration to address areas of weakness as identified from tests and exams.
• Maintain an orderly work area.
• Keep records of student progress as needed, such as behavior, grades, attendance.
• Maintain strict student confidentiality.
• Keep supervisor informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Communicate with teachers regarding students' academic progress and/or needs as per request of supervisor.
• Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment for students.
• Communicate with students in a positive and encouraging way.
• Help keep administrative records and help prepare required reports, including accurate records of time worked (timesheets).
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff.
• Be a positive role model for students.
• Support mission of school district.
