Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking an energetic Activities Assistant to support the Activity Director in assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing activity and recreational services tailored to residents’ needs and interests.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a preference for an Activities Certification and experience in long-term care. You will help plan, document, and deliver a range of programs to enhance residents' quality of life.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Activities Certification is preferred.
• One-year experience working in long term care is required.
• One-year experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and delivering activity/recreational programs to promote residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to maintain functioning levels.
• Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, educational activities, service activities, and recreational activities.
• Assists in completing activity documentation, when trained and in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Submits supplies list to Activity/Recreation Director and submits receipts for activity expenditures.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assists Activity/Recreation Director in organizing and supervising the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
• Assists with Resident Council Meetings when necessary.
• Assists in planning community activities involving the community, staff, families and residents.
• Assists in completing a monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and posts it in the center.
• Other duties and duties may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
