Job summary

Empower Schools of Alabama is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons and small-group instruction at Empower Community School. The role emphasizes building strong relationships, social-emotional support, and adherence to PBIS and school routines.

You will assist in data-driven instructional decisions, monitor student progress, and participate in professional development and school events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and ability to pass Work Keys assessment required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of engaging, standards-aligned lessons under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
• Support small group instruction and individualized learning activities.
• Reinforce key concepts during independent practice and intervention blocks.
• Provide targeted academic support to students based on data and teacher guidance.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom resources.
• Support the implementation of PBIS and school-wide expectations.
• Build positive relationships with students and collaborate with staff.
