Job summary

1898 & Co. is a global business, technology and security consultancy delivering insights for critical infrastructure. The Energy & Utilities Analyst will assist with power system studies, cost/benefit evaluations, and planning for fossil and renewable generation.

You will support power flow, stability, and reliability analyses, contribute to client presentations, and help prepare financial models and reports under supervision of a consultant or project manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related degree from an accredited program required.
  • Basic knowledge in standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, interprets, and applies engineering, financial, and economic conditions to client projects.
  • Applies basic knowledge of engineering and financial concepts within the consulting services industry.
  • Assists with analyzing life-cycle costs by developing technical and economic forecasts.
  • Assists project team with technical assessments of regulatory rule impacts.
  • Assists with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements.
  • Supports power system planning and operations analysis including power flow and stability.
  • Performs technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies for utility projects.
  • Supports transmission/distribution study analysis using power system software.
  • Supports assessments for fossil and renewable generation.
  • Supports technical and business-related risk assessments.
  • Supports detailed financial analyses using various software.
  • Supports developing technical reports and client presentations.
  • Supports contract administration for design/planning of utility systems.
  • Performs other duties and complies with policies.
