Job summary

1898 & Co. is a Burns & McDonnell-affiliated energy and utilities consultancy seeking a Mech/EE, Business, Finance, or related degree holder to assist in power system studies and lifecycle cost analyses for fossil and renewable projects.

Based in Morristown, NJ, the role collaborates with project teams to deliver technical, economic, and financial insights for client solutions and supports regulatory and market analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related degree from an accredited program required.
  • Basic knowledge in standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, interprets, and applies engineering, financial, and economic conditions to client projects.
  • Applies basic knowledge of engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Assists with life-cycle cost analyses by developing technical and economic assumptions.
  • Assists with regulatory-rule impact assessments.
  • Assists with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements.
  • Supports power system planning and operations analysis including power flow and reliability.
  • Performs technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies for utility projects.
  • Supports transmission/distribution study analysis using power system software.
  • Supports assessments for fossil and renewable generation.
  • Supports technical and business risk assessments.
  • Assists in detailed financial analyses using various software.
  • Prepares technical reports and client presentations.
