Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Energy & Utilities Analyst in the US to assist with power system studies, economic evaluations, and technical analyses for fossil and renewable generation projects. You will support planning, due diligence, and investment analyses under supervision of senior staff.

The role emphasizes quantitative problem solving, collaboration, and clear communication for client presentations and technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required.
• Basic knowledge of standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Campus or community involvement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with power system studies evaluating fossil fuel and renewable plants and delivery systems.
• Analyze engineering, financial, and economic conditions to support client projects.
• Support life-cycle cost analyses with capital and O&M cost assumptions.
• Contribute to technical assessments of regulatory impacts on projects.
• Assist with drawings design/review per project manager requirements.
• Support power system planning, stability, and economic dispatch analyses.
• Conduct financial analyses using software and prepare technical reports for clients.
