Starr is seeking an Underwriting Manager for Energy in Atlanta to lead the regional energy underwriting team and drive profitable growth in alignment with company guidelines. You will oversee risk assessment, pricing, and compliance while fostering broker and client relationships.

The role requires 7+ years in energy underwriting, strong leadership and communication skills, and willingness to travel within the region to meet clients and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in business, insurance, engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of energy underwriting experience with leadership exposure.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills; leadership and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the regional energy underwriting team, ensuring alignment with Starr’s guidelines and strategies.
• Underwrite complex energy risks across upstream, midstream, downstream, power generation and renewables.
• Develop and execute underwriting plans to achieve growth and profitability targets in the region.
• Review and authorize risk submissions and referrals above underwriter authority.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Mentor and develop underwriting staff; provide training and growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with global and national teams on product development and market research.
