Job summary

Starr Indemnity & Liability Company is seeking a seasoned Underwriter for its Energy Casualty team in a growing Southeast market. You will analyze complex casualty risks, structure terms, and work with brokers to secure profitable new business while maintaining excellent client relationships.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in casualty underwriting, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with underwriting software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degrees or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience underwriting casualty lines of coverage.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and develop tailored solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
• Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a profitable Energy Casualty portfolio with strategic growth.
• Cultivate relationships with Southeast producers to drive new business opportunities.
• Conduct underwriting analysis to assess risks and determine coverage terms.
• Prepare and issue indications, quotations, and binders with precision.
• Monitor and manage the new business pipeline with timely follow-ups.
• Solicit submissions from brokers and clients to drive business development.
• Provide exceptional service and support to clients and resolve inquiries promptly.
• Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to guide decisions.
• Contribute to underwriting guidelines and strategies to stay competitive.
