Job summary

Wabash Valley Power, headquartered in Indiana, is seeking a System Operator to coordinate real-time energy delivery for our member cooperatives. You will work in our Operations Center, handling communications between IOUs, members, and the operations team, and support real-time monitoring and control systems.

The role requires obtaining NERC/ PJM certifications within nine months, with a rotating 12-hour schedule in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering or a technical field or equivalent experience.
Preferred experience in an Operations Center handling transmission/substation equipment.
Knowledge of electric power system reliability standards is preferred.
Ability to obtain NERC and PJM certifications within nine months of hire.

Responsibilities

Obtain NERC certification as a Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator within 9 months of hire.
Serve as the primary IOU/member communications contact for restoration of service.
Maintain professional communications with IOUs, REMC staff, and WVPA personnel during outages.
Monitor transmission and distribution systems using EMS and SCADA systems.
Develop and implement operational procedures aligned with member cooperatives and IOUs.
Ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards and the NESC.
Coordinate outage schedules and operational activities, including mobile substations.
Monitor storm activity and support the Operations Center as needed.
