Job summary

Wabash Valley Power Alliance invites you to join the Associate System Operator Internship for Summer 2027 in Indianapolis. You will gain hands-on experience in our Operations Center, learning how system operators communicate with utilities and members, and how to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery using EMS and SCADA systems.

You will learn NERC and PJM certification requirements, assist with outages and restoration, and shadow technicians and staff across operations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited bachelor's or associate degree in engineering.
• Electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology preferred.
• Willing to work occasional 12-hour shifts, including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn NERC and PJM certification requirements for transmission operations.
• Support communications with IOUs, member cooperatives, and WVPA staff for outages.
• Monitor transmission and distribution systems using EMS and SCADA.
• Assist with outage coordination and service restoration.
• Shadow field technicians and system admins on SCADA/EMS operations.
