Job summary

Stanford University is seeking a responsible Energy Operations technician to safely operate and maintain its energy facilities and thermal systems. You will monitor plant equipment, control systems, and chemical parameters while coordinating with the Shift Supervisor to address issues.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, California driver’s license, and experience in energy facility operations.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of a distributed control system.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to use logic and reason to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternatives.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and plant operating procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Basic water chemistry knowledge.
• Experience working with large chiller systems.
• Experience with mechanical, I&C, or electrical maintenance.
• Experience with Distributed Controls Systems, Plant Historians, and standard office applications.

Responsibilities

• Safely monitor and maintain all operational parameters.
• Report abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor and troubleshoot equipment.
• Operate chillers, boilers, and pumping equipment.
• Maintain plant chemistry within parameter ranges.
• Participate in root cause analysis when required.
• Order parts, supplies, or equipment.
• Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties.
