Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma, California GED, or equivalent to two years of experience in operation and maintenance of boilers/chillers.
• Certificate program in mechanical technology may substitute for up to one year of experience.
• OSHA required physicals and a valid California Driver's License are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and related central plant equipment.
• Operate cogeneration, electrical generation, distribution, and fuel, water, and air systems.
• Use building automation and energy-management systems to optimize energy efficiency.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance; inspect equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Conduct chemical analyses and water-treatment activities; monitor emissions and pressures.
• Respond to emergencies; initiate safety protocols and perform emergency repairs.
• Calibrate and monitor boilers, turbines, generators, and control systems.
• Maintain logs, maintenance records, inventories, and as-built documentation.
• Provide direction and training to staff; ensure safety compliance.
