Job summary

Energy Systems Group, LLC. is seeking a Preconstruction Leader to join the Public Sector Central Team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The role bridges client engagement with technical solution development and preconstruction planning, preparing for handoff to execution after contract acceptance.

The ideal candidate will develop conceptual scopes, cost models, coordinate internal resources, and drive proposals through award, while traveling frequently to customer sites and project locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, construction management, architecture, energy systems, or related field.
• 7-12 years of progressive experience in technical sales, business development, energy services, design-build, or mechanical/electrical systems.
• Strong background in preconstruction, engineering, estimating, or energy project development.
• Proven experience winning complex, multi-stakeholder sales opportunities.
• Familiarity with energy performance contracting, public-sector procurement, or MEP/controls systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large opportunities through the full sales lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Support sales teams with technical presentations, customer workshops, and proposal interviews.
• Develop sales strategies highlighting competitive differentiators in energy efficiency, renewables, and design-build delivery.
• Build and maintain relationships with technical customer influencers across public and private sectors.
• Maintain updates in CRM or sales pipeline tools with clear opportunities, risks and next actions.
• Lead technical discovery with clients, site assessments, data collection, and requirements definition.
• Develop conceptual scopes of work, preliminary designs, energy measures, and high-level engineering solutions.
• Coordinate internal estimating to create budgets, cost models, schedules, and risk assessments.
• Prepare proposal content including narratives, performance models, designs, and pricing.
• Manage the preconstruction process including design development, reviews, value engineering, and constructability analyses.
• Oversee subcontractor outreach, bid packages, and scope alignment.
• Ensure procurement compliance with codes, standards, and public-sector requirements.
• Maintain opportunity tracking, schedule adherence, and stakeholder communication.
