Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an Engineer to lead and support energy-focused mechanical projects in a fast-paced environment. You will perform site surveys, develop energy-efficient scopes, and coordinate with architects, energy modeling, and other disciplines.

You will review drawings, perform load calculations, and prepare meeting notes while ensuring on-time delivery and client satisfaction. Travel 25-40% and FE eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four year ABET accredited university
  • 2-4 years of related experience
  • Experience with high level complex facility energy projects
  • Knowledge of Central Energy Plants and control systems
  • Experience in Excel and Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written format
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines
  • Passion for quality and client satisfaction
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
  • Preferred: 1-3 years of energy related client interface for an engineering design firm
  • Preferred experience with building energy services in the health and higher-education field
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical design drawings
  • Preferred: Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and obtained Engineering Intern License
  • 25-40% of time spent traveling to job sites/office locations
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
  • Ability to move in different positions in tight and confined spaces
  • Ability to operate machinery and/or power tools
  • Ability to adjust and/or move objects up to 20 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Plan and independently perform most assignments with technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval of proposed project plans
  • Produce projects that are on-time, within-budget, and compliant with industry standards, codes, and client specifications
  • Conduct site surveys to determine existing facility conditions
  • Identify and prepare energy-efficient and deferred-maintenance scopes
  • Perform mechanical system calculations, including load calculations and ventilation schedules
  • Interact in meetings with owners, clients, and architects and prepare meeting notes
  • Review and analyze mechanical-system drawings
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, including energy modeling, financial modeling, lighting, and design
  • Support Senior Level Staff in project scope creation and lead scope discussions with owners, clients, and senior-level personnel
  • Support Energy Analyst III in reviewing preliminary engineering deliverables, including equipment inventories, energy conservation measures, scoping narratives, schematic drawings, and definitive transaction document exhibits
  • Participate in initiatives to refine development processes and tools
  • Train less experienced engineers and/or technicians while meeting project deadlines
  • Uphold company owner advocacy philosophy and organizational core values
