Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled engineer to monitor and diagnose energy systems in client buildings using ENFRA Connect and related tools. You will review faults, analyze trend data, and diagnose issues in HVAC and central plant equipment, delivering actionable recommendations to improve energy efficiency and reliability.

As the primary client contact, you will lead regular meetings, present findings, and track resolutions with field technicians.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and able to tackle multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Engineering Intern (EI) licensure preferred
  • CEM, CMVP, CEP, CEA, EEP, or BEP certification preferred
  • Experience with energy efficiency programs preferred
  • Experience analyzing utility data preferred
  • Basic knowledge of commercial HVAC systems preferred
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Power BI, Tableau, Python, R) preferred
  • Willingness to travel 5–10% to job sites or offices
  • Ability to climb stairs and perform light work up to 20 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Monitor client buildings and systems using ENFRA Connect and fault-detection tools
  • Review flagged faults to identify operational issues affecting energy, equipment performance, and comfort
  • Analyze trend data and diagnose mechanical, control, and sequence-related faults
  • Investigate HVAC performance including chillers, AHUs, VAVs, and central plants
  • Serve as primary client contact and communicate findings and corrective actions
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review issues and priorities
  • Develop actionable recommendations with energy and reliability impacts
  • Track fault resolution and follow up with clients and technicians
  • Manage issue timelines and escalate unresolved/high-impact faults
  • Prepare periodic findings reports and dashboards
  • Support FDD rule customization and refinement
  • Quantify energy and cost savings from fault corrections
  • Collaborate with MBCx engineers on complex diagnostics and escalations
  • Maintain documentation of building systems, sequences, and inventories
  • Support onboarding of new buildings into the MBCx monitoring platform
  • Uphold company owner advocacy philosophy and values
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision in a team environment

Job description

  • Analyze trend data, historian data, and point-level detail to diagnose mechanical, control, and sequence-related faults
  • Investigate HVAC system performance, including chillers, air handling units, VAV systems, and central plant equipment
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients and communicate findings and corrective actions
  • Conduct regular client meetings or calls to review issues and corrective priorities
  • Develop and present actionable recommendations with expected energy and reliability impacts
  • Track fault resolution and follow up with clients and field technicians
  • Manage issue timelines and elevate unresolved or high-impact faults
  • Prepare periodic findings reports and dashboards
  • Support FDD rule customization and refinement
  • Quantify and document energy and cost savings from fault correction
  • Collaborate with MBCx engineers and team leadership on complex diagnostics and escalations
  • Maintain documentation of building systems, operating sequences, and equipment inventories

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
