Job summary

Jobtailor in Minnesota is offering a summer Engineering Internship to support Energy Supply Base Capital projects at coal-fired or RDF plants. You will work with project engineers on planning, budgeting, and execution while gaining hands-on exposure to plant systems and diagrams.

This program emphasizes learning through real tasks, collaboration with stakeholders, and presenting to senior leadership. Candidates are pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degrees and can commit full-time in summer

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college or university
• Pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering or related program
• Able to commute to any one of the plants in Becker, MN; Mankato, MN; Red Wing, MN; LaCrosse, WI; or Ashland, WI
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)
• Able to work part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week)
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person, per the hybrid work policy
• 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher preferred
• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including Engineering classes preferred
• Previous Engineering internship experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Support Energy Supply Base Capital Engineering Projects at coal-fired or RDF generating plants in Minnesota or Wisconsin
• Assist project engineers at power plants with project management and execution
• Learn how power plants generate electricity and the systems/subsystems supporting major equipment
• Read and use piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and general plant drawings in support of projects
• Use project planning and project budgeting systems
• Present to senior leadership
• Collaborate with key internal stakeholders
• Contribute to department objectives and goals
• Apply academic learning through hands-on training and network with interns across the Energy Supply organization
