Base is building a next-generation energy platform using distributed batteries. We seek a market analyst who combines data science with deep knowledge of wholesale energy markets to turn analysis into actionable recommendations for capital allocation and deal-making.

Your work will span ERCOT and PJM markets, with responsibility for developing models, reports, and strategic viewpoints that inform Base’s trading and product decisions. This role emphasizes rigorous analysis and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Fluency in data science and data visualization; turn complex network behavior into clear business insights.
• Comfort with modern operational tools like SQL and Grafana for fleet telemetry analysis.
• Deep understanding of wholesale energy market operations (e.g., ERCOT) and related market structures.
• Working knowledge of unit commitment, economic dispatch, and production cost modeling.

Responsibilities

• Model coincident peak (CP) timing and year-over-year evolution in markets like PJM and ERCOT; benchmark against forecasts.
• Model the impact of CP reform in ERCOT and implications for Base’s book.
• Compile polished reports on operational performance for internal teams and external stakeholders, including ISO presentations.
• Determine deployment timing for a 4-hour battery solution and where solar absence blocks progress.
• Maintain a strong, vetted opinion on any market or product Base is considering selling into.
