City of Austin is seeking a professional to optimize, nominate, balance, and invoice fuel and electrical energy sales and purchases. You will forecast wholesale power and fuel prices, optimize purchases, manage nominations, and monitor ERCOT congestion to impact energy schedules.

The role requires knowledge of energy markets, ability to analyze complex data, and capability to operate in a 24/7 utility environment. Strong collaboration with front, middle, and back offices is essential.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years in a related field are required.
• Master's degree may substitute for up to 1 year of experience, PhD may substitute up to 2 years.

Responsabilidades

• Projects short- and long-term electric energy and fuel requirements.
• Assists with forecasting daily wholesale power and fuel prices and market trends.
• Optimizes power and fuel purchases among multiple supply and transportation options.
• Allocates wholesale power and fuel purchases per contractual obligations.
• Nominates and schedules daily wholesale power and natural gas purchase and transportation volumes.
• Monitors ERCOT transmission congestion and determines impacts to AE energy schedules.
