Job summary

OSI Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support a fast-paced research laboratory in Menlo Park, CA.

The role focuses on maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant environment for scientists and engineers, with hands-on responsibilities across chemical operations and safety programs. The ideal candidate has 2–7 years of relevant EHS experience, HAZWOPER certification, and familiarity with chemical inventory systems.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of relevant EHS experience.
• Experience with chemical inventory systems.
• Familiarity with TSDF (Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities).
• HAZWOPER training: 40-hour initial, 8-hour annual refresher.
• Experience in semiconductor/tech/biotech environments preferred.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage receipt, tracking, labeling, storage, and organization of laboratory chemicals and compressed gases.
• Maintain chemical inventory, SDS, hazard, and storage records in inventory systems.
• Support hazardous waste operations: collection, labeling, staging, container changes, storage, and coordination with disposal vendors.
• Maintain waste accumulation areas and ensure compliant handling of chemicals and waste.
• Conduct routine EHS safety inspections and assist with corrective actions.
• Monitor safety equipment, PPE, spill-response materials, gas detection equipment, and other EHS supplies.
• Assist with employee safety programs, onboarding, training, respirator programs, and documentation.
• Support internal and regulatory inspections by maintaining records and follow-up actions.
• Assist with environmental sampling, inventory reconciliation, lab cleanouts, equipment moves, and other EHS projects.
• Maintain a safe, organized lab environment and address chemical handling, storage, labeling, and compliance concerns.
