Job description

Energy Expert – Director / Partner Level | US | Hybrid / Remote | Competitive Salary

We are supporting a search for an Energy expert at Director or Partner level to join the Energy practice of a leading global economic consulting firm.

This is a top opportunity for an established energy economist to take significant ownership of client relationships, lead high-value engagements and build their own practice within a highly regarded global platform. The opportunity is particularly suited to professionals with a strong track record across energy markets, regulation and disputes, and a meaningful existing book of business.

As a senior leader within the Energy practice, you will play a key role in developing the firm’s U.S. Energy offering, leading complex client engagements and building long-term relationships with major clients. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and entrepreneurial ownership, effectively building and developing your own "microbusiness" within an established global consulting platform. You will also have access to significant internal resources, including PhD economists, specialists, analytical teams and project management support.

The role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of energy matters, including regulatory and commercial disputes, competition analysis and economic consulting engagements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex, high-value economic consulting engagements across the Energy sector
  • Develop and maintain senior-level client relationships
  • Originate and grow new business opportunities within the U.S. Energy market
  • Own and develop a meaningful book of business - $500K–$1M+
  • Provide expert analysis, reports and testimony on regulatory, litigation and commercial matters
  • Lead project teams and oversee the delivery of high-quality client work
  • Manage P&L and take ownership of the commercial performance of your practice
  • Build and develop a team around your client and sector expertise
  • Collaborate with economists, PhD specialists, STEM talent and analytical resources across the wider firm
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm’s Energy practice
Key Skills & Experience

We are particularly interested in Energy Experts with:

  • A strong track record within economic consulting, regulatory consulting, disputes or related advisory environments
  • Experience across one or more of Electricity, Oil & Gas and Renewables
  • A broad understanding of energy regulation, markets and/or competition
  • Experience supporting high-value regulatory, litigation or commercial disputes
  • Experience testifying or providing expert evidence is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and manage senior client relationships
  • Demonstrable business development and client origination experience
  • Experience managing P&L and/or a significant book of business
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate independently
  • The ability to own client relationships and lead delivery, rather than acting solely as a project contributor or co-author
  • Opportunity to join a leading global economic consulting platform
  • Significant autonomy and ownership over your practice and client relationships
  • Flat organisational structure with senior leaders owning P&L and leading client work
  • Opportunity to progress from seasoned senior to recognised industry expert
  • Strong platform for business development and long-term practice growth
  • Access to world-class PhD, analytical and project management resources
  • Strong reputation and brand recognition across regulatory and litigation markets
  • Opportunities to work across Energy, Infrastructure, Transportation, Mining and other sectors
  • Highly collaborative and collegial working environment
  • U.S.-based opportunity with hybrid, remote or office-based options
  • Competitive base salary and performance-based incentive opportunity
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings and retirement programmes
