Job description

Energy & Infrastructure Projects – Mid-Level Associate (3–6 Years)

Confidential Am Law Firm Client | Search Conducted by Love Freedom Solution

Love Freedom Solution has been exclusively retained to support the hiring needs of an elite, internationally recognized Am Law firm expanding its Energy & Infrastructure Projects practice.

This opportunity offers exposure to sophisticated, large-scale domestic and cross-border energy and infrastructure projects, representing sponsors, developers, lenders, and institutional investors across the full project lifecycle.

Position Overview

The firm is seeking a mid-level associate with 3–6 years of law firm experience focused on energy and infrastructure transactions. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience advising on complex project development and financing matters, particularly within renewables, power, and energy transition sectors.

Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of key workstreams, drafting and negotiating principal transaction documents, and managing project execution with minimal supervision.

Core Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate principal project agreements, including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and related commercial arrangements
  • Support and lead aspects of project development, acquisition, divestiture, and financing transactions
  • Structure and negotiate complex project finance and joint venture arrangements
  • Coordinate diligence across regulatory, environmental, real estate, and tax considerations specific to infrastructure assets
  • Advise sponsors, developers, and lenders on risk allocation and project bankability
  • Manage transaction logistics and oversee closing mechanics
Asset Classes and Sector Focus

The practice covers a broad portfolio of energy and infrastructure assets, including:

  • Renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage)
  • Conventional power generation facilities
  • Transmission and distribution infrastructure
  • LNG and midstream assets
  • Emerging energy transition technologies
Why you should join
  • This is a financing-forward seat that won't waste your time - you'll draft and negotiate core debt documents and run closings from day one. No "projects-light" work here.
  • You’ll build the most durable skill set in energy transition - tax equity and tax credit monetization exposure that compounds your value in the market. These structures are where the real money and complexity live.
  • Clients' platform delivers top-tier deal quality - Law360 recognized the Energy Group of the Year and you'll work on the sophisticated financings that matter: bridge to tax equity, back leverage, portfolio facilities, and complex capital stacks.
  • Four major markets give you location flexibility - Houston, New York, Toronto, or Washington D.C. Pick where you want to build your practice.
  • Enhanced lateral support designed for experienced attorneys - mentorship program that actually helps you integrate plus professional development that accelerates your growth.
  • Pro bono gets creditable time - build your skills while doing meaningful work that counts toward your targets.
  • Compensation reflects the market reality - $290,000 to $415,000 base plus discretionary bonus eligibility. They're paying for real execution capability
Hybrid Structure

The firm operates on a structured hybrid schedule, generally Monday through Thursday in-office, with defined remote flexibility.

Qualifications
  • 3–6 years of energy and infrastructure transactional experience at a leading law firm
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial agreements
  • Experience managing sophisticated transaction workstreams
  • Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction
  • Excellent analytical, written, and interpersonal skills

This is an exceptional opportunity for an associate seeking to build long-term expertise within a premier global Energy & Infrastructure Projects practice.
