Job summary

New Ecology, Inc. is seeking an Energy Engineer 2 with 3-5 years of experience to support decarbonization projects from our Wilmington, DE office.

The role requires regular on-site client visits and travels primarily in the Mid-Atlantic, with three days remote and two in-office days. The team focuses on reducing carbon emissions and improving building performance, operation, resiliency, and occupant health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in energy efficiency, HVAC design, or energy auditing.
  • Experience evaluating building mechanical systems and energy efficiency consulting work.
  • Understanding of building science and energy-efficient buildings.
  • Strong interest in improving building performance to reduce energy use.
  • Physical ability to inspect buildings and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ASHRAE energy audits and site assessments of mechanical, plumbing, electrical systems and building enclosures.
  • Prepare and deliver written audit reports.
  • Analyze energy usage and calculate savings using spreadsheets or energy modeling tools.
  • Develop recommendations for energy-efficient upgrades to building envelopes, HVAC, lighting, and water systems.
  • Estimate implementation costs and perform cost-benefit analysis of upgrades.
  • Conduct QA inspections of completed projects and document conditions with photos.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and interns; support training initiatives.
