Job summary

Slipstream is seeking an Energy Engineer to apply expertise in building energy systems and energy analytics to advance sustainable design and equity-driven decarbonization. You will contribute to research, energy efficiency programs, and client projects across commercial and residential settings.

The role emphasizes collaboration, communication, and hands-on field support, with a hybrid work arrangement in Chicago and occasional travel for site work and meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical/civil/environmental engineering, architecture, or related field.
• Fundamental knowledge of building energy systems and building science concepts.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated success managing complex technical projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist with energy efficiency and renewable energy-related research or consulting in commercial buildings, residential buildings, campuses, and communities.
• Manage Projects: Monitor progress against schedules, identify risks, assist in budget tracking, and ensure quality.
• Quantify energy system performance, life cycle cost economics, and emissions reduction potential using energy analytics software.
• Develop and maintain tools for energy analysis and productivity.
• Prepare reports and communications for project-related work.
• Assist with onsite responsibilities in the field and perform audits or assessments.
• Collaborate as a member of the project team and work within workgroups.
