Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is seeking an engineer to provide technical expertise in conservation programs, advising customers, sales staff, and marketing teams; examine potential applications and recommend solutions; develop knowledge in assigned technical areas and apply it to maximize customer benefit from conservation products.

This full-time, hybrid role requires a BSME/BSEE from ABET-accredited curriculum, about one year of energy-conservation experience, and EIT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• BSME, BSEE or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited curriculum is required.
• 1 year of experience with energy conservation preferred in one or more areas such as HVAC, lighting, motors, controls, energy efficient building construction, etc.
• EIT Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to the Xcel Energy Marketing and Sales organizations.
• Perform day-to-day engineering in assigned technical areas.
• Construct analyses in the technical-financial models meeting state regulatory and corporate guidelines.
• Develop rapid but rigorous analytical models based on good engineering practice.
• Learn responsibilities and guidelines from Senior Technical Consultants and Team Lead Technical Consultant.
• Develop and maintain technical knowledge in assigned areas for gas or electric conservation programs.
• Leverage internal expertise by connecting with external networks of engineers and architectural firms, government agencies, and industry groups.
• Meet established turnaround times for projects to foster customer participation.
