Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in electrical power systems.
• Not required, but 1-2 years experience in substation operation, protective relaying, or distribution dispatching is desired.
• Valid state driver license.
• HireVue Dispatcher Worker test required online (45 minutes).
• Must work a twelve-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and regulate system voltage levels and real and reactive power flows with the AEP SCC.
• Assist in real-time operation of the transmission system with AEP SCC and neighboring utilities.
• Assist in real-time operation of distribution equipment inside the station fence with regional centers.
• Prepare basic switching orders and safety tagging for maintenance or construction.
• Direct switching operations under emergency conditions to restore service.
• Maintain a log of events and transactions for facilities and equipment.
• Observe and assist in operating the SCADA system and related functions.
• Monitor metering and communications and report malfunctions.
• Monitor weather information for severe weather and notify proper personnel.
• Input and acknowledge records of station entry/exit activity.

Education

Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
