Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an entry-level plant operator to assist with operating and maintaining power plant equipment. The role includes learning to isolate, clean, inspect, and return equipment to service, and to monitor plant auxiliary systems and water chemistry.

Qualified candidates typically hold a two-year associate degree in power plant technology or related field and be prepared for rotating shifts. Training and safety programs are provided.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in power plant technology, industrial technology, engineering technology or equivalent.
• Equivalent would include: Associates degree in another discipline and two years of related work experience, OR high school diploma with four years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators while learning the job duties.
• Isolate, clean, inspect, and return plant equipment to service.
• Operate and maintain plant auxiliary systems and monitor equipment.
