Job summary

  • Experience with scanning documents, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately and thoroughly.
  • Self-motivated, confident individual with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs and gather information needed to determine program eligibility.
  • Retrieve online applications submitted in the eHEAT system.
  • Scan applications received at site locations.
  • Complete accurate data entry, inputting household information and application data into the eHEAT system.
  • Respond to heating emergencies within Department of Commerce timelines.
  • Coordinate with energy vendors, place emergency guarantees and complete follow up activity.
  • Answer client requests and questions via phone, email, and in person.
  • Be knowledgeable of community resources; collaborate with staff and external sources of services.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and community outreach events as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Specialistsprocess client applications; provide in-person client assistance, as well as community outreach; and are responsible for completing data entry in a fast-paced environment. EAP Specialists are responsible for following Energy Assistance Program guidelines, rules, and regulations. This position requires professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of low-income families and individuals throughout Crow Wing County.
