Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking an Energy-AC Senior Associate in Dallas to lead accounting engagements for upstream oil & gas clients. You will supervise staff, review work, and ensure compliance with GAAP and industry standards.

The role emphasizes client communication and partnership with the Energy Accounting & Consulting team. You will plan engagements, prepare financial statements, manage monthly cycles, and support staff training.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of energy accounting experience
• Upstream/E&P knowledge required
• BA or Master’s in accounting or financial management
• CPA or CPA eligibility preferred
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• GAAP knowledge for O&G accounting; industry calculations like depletion

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute client engagements; supervise and train associates
• Prepare daily receipts, revenue sheets, intercompany reports
• Prepare financial statements; monitor AP/AR and monthly transactions
• Coordinate monthly accounting processes and intercompany activity
• Maintain client relationships and communicate effectively with management
• Assist in training staff and developing materials for professional development
