Job summary

Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls seeks an Engineer, Energetics Manufacturing – Level 2 or Level 3 – to work at the Elkton, Maryland facility. The role covers polymer and adhesive manufacturing, energetics materials chemistry, process development and continuous improvement within a solid‑propellant rocket operations environment.

Relocation and Secret clearance required; travel up to 10%. The role emphasizes manufacturing support, process control, lean transformation, and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience for Level 2, or Master’s with 0 years. US citizen; must obtain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience for Level 3, or Master’s with 3 years. US citizen; must obtain a Secret clearance.
• Experience in polymer/adhesive manufacturing or energetics materials chemistry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for polymer/adhesive manufacturing and energetics materials chemistry.
• Provide manufacturing support to meet quality, delivery and cost goals.
• Create and improve SPC program and process control documentation.
• Establish manufacturing lines for new products, including lean flow and capacity planning.
• Coordinate capital project sizing, equipment specs, vendor run-off and installation.
• Enforce safety, TPM programs and standard operating procedures.
• Provide startup training and ongoing maintenance training.
• Lead lean initiatives, 5S, FMEA, value-stream mapping and time studies.
• Analyze processes for capabilities, downtime, yield and scrap; conduct root-cause investigations.
