Job summary

Mad Science is seeking energetic individuals to become fun STEM instructors, teaching engaging, inquiry-based science to elementary students. You will lead demonstrations, hands-on activities, and take-home projects that showcase how science impacts everyday life.

This part-time to semi-full-time role is seasonal with hourly pay ranging from $22.50 to $30 per hour DOE. 5 one-hour classes per week can yield roughly $225–$300. Further hours may be available.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of elementary-age children (4–12).
• Must be available at least three weekdays during programming hours.
• Must have reliable car and provide proof of insurance.
• DOJ/FBI background check and TB test required.
• Vaccination proof or COVID testing may be required by clients.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children.
• Deliver high-energy, engaging science activities for one-hour sessions over 8–10 weeks.
• Travel to multiple locations across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
• Teach and inspire kids about science in a fun, safe environment.
• Attend paid training sessions at the office.
• Attend weekly staff meetings (paid).
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Be punctual for all scheduled activities.
• Adhere to safety and cleanliness guidelines.
