Job summary

Thornburg Investment is seeking a Service Desk Associate - Security Specialist to protect employee workstations and user-facing tech. This entry-to-mid level role offers hands-on experience with endpoint security, Microsoft security tools, automation, and incident response, serving as a stepping stone to more advanced infrastructure roles.

Based in Santa Fe, NM, the position supports patching, device compliance, and phishing simulations while collaborating with Security and Infrastructure teams

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in Service Desk, End User Support, or technical support roles with security responsibilities.
• Strong hands-on experience supporting Windows and macOS endpoints.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and Microsoft 365 security tools.
• Familiarity with endpoint security concepts, patching, configuration management, and device compliance.
• Experience with a service management platform (e.g., Freshservice).
• Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated interest in security, automation, and career growth beyond traditional Service Desk work.
• Working knowledge of CIS and NIST frameworks (preferred).
• Scripting experience (PowerShell preferred).
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Endpoint & user security duties including patching and baseline application of protection controls.
• Provide Service Desk support with a security-first mindset during peak periods.
• Create and maintain knowledge base articles and how-to guides.
• Collaborate with IT teams to align endpoint security with enterprise standards.
• Assist with incident response, containment, and remediation activities.
• Participate in security-related IT projects and vendor coordination.
