Job summary

The University of Richmond Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Office, including endowment and investment accounting, and support the university’s annual audit and financial reporting.

Responsibilities include supervising Accounting Analysts, coordinating with external partners, preparing 990/990T filings, and driving process improvements while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and ASC 820 disclosures.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of US GAAP and not-for-profit accounting.
• Experience with endowment and investment accounting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Accounting Analyst(s) and manage day-to-day activities of the Accounting Office.
• Oversee endowment and investment accounting, and preparation of monthly/quarterly/yearly reports.
• Lead preparation of financial statements and annual 990/990T/4720 filings with external accountants.
• Coordinate with Spider Management Company on new investments.
• Mentor staff and drive process modernization and improvements.
• Assist with audits and annual external financial statements.
