Job summary

University of Richmond seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee the Accounting Office and endowment accounting. You will supervise staff, manage daily activities, and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and FASB guidance.

You will lead annual 990 filings, coordinate with external auditors, and support university capital and endowment reporting. Strong Excel and ERP experience are required in a dynamic higher education environment.

Qualifications

Thorough understanding of US GAAP, especially not-for-profit accounting and investments.
Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel; proficient with Word, Access, PowerPoint.
Experience with higher education ERPs (Banner, Workday, Oracle).
Ability to create queries and reports from databases.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise Accounting Analysts and manage day-to-day Accounting Office activities.
Perform endowment and investment accounting, including valuation and donor restrictions, and monthly/quarterly reporting.
Lead preparation of annual 990 and related tax filings with external accountants.
Coordinate with campus and external parties on financial statements, audits, and tax inquiries.
Mentor staff and assist with policy development and improvements.
