Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential may substitute for certification with ≥2 years endoscopy experience.
• CFER certification preferred; must be computer literate and able to use healthcare systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Explain procedures and sensations to patients and minimize discomfort; provide emotional and physical support.
• Set up equipment and ensure necessary supplies are available.
• Assist physician with procedures as directed.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Place blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter sensor, ECG leads, nasal cannula, and grounding pad.
• Collect, prepare, and label specimens accurately.
• Report patient findings to supervisor or RN promptly.
• Clean, maintain and handle equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain adequate supplies in procedure, pre-op, post-op areas; back-up for front office as needed.
• Follow infection control procedures and accrediting standards.
• Complete trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
