Job summary

United Digestive in Lithonia, GA is seeking a PRN Endoscopy Support role to assist with patient care before, during, and after GI procedures. You will help set up equipment, support the nurse, and ensure accurate specimen handling.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, ability to follow directions, and good communication with patients and staff; prior healthcare experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• RN, LPN, CMA or the equivalent. Able to follow written and verbal direction involving policy and procedure pertinent to patient care.
• Willingness to expand range of skills to include minor procedures and data entry.
• The ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, and professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Sets up appropriate equipment for procedures and ensures necessary supplies are available.
• Assist physician with procedure. Collects, prepares and label specimen accurately.
• Explain procedures and expected sensations to patient and provide instructions to ensure patient cooperation and to minimize discomfort.
• Takes and records vital signs and place equipment as needed.
• Documents on all forms/computer as required.
