Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join our Faculty Group Practice in Brooklyn. The successful candidate will assist physicians and nurses in delivering patient care.

Responsibilities

1. Perform assigned duties as directed.
2. Obtain vital signs, weights, EKGs, and assist with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.
3. Manage patient flow and assist with escorting patients and specimens.
4. Prepare the patient's chart with relevant lab work and test reports for physician review.
5. Stock exam and treatment rooms with supplies and notify the Office Manager when supplies are low.
6. Clean and prepare treatment areas after each patient, including light housekeeping tasks.
7. Complete patient charges in accordance with policy.
8. Assist patients with activities such as eating, toileting, ambulating, and comfort.
9. Support physicians during procedures, including GI procedures and examinations.
10. Clean and sterilize equipment after use.
11. Answer phones in the treatment area and assist with scheduling treatments.
12. Help patients and communicate with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

Scribing for physicians.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or current medical assistant certification from a recognized agency such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Proficiency in a second language is a plus.

Effective communication skills across all organizational levels are essential.
