Job summary

Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, IL seeks an Endoscopy Technician/CNA for a full-time, 40-hour week in the Endoscopy Surgical Services department. You will prepare, disinfect and maintain endoscopic equipment and assist physicians and nurses during procedures such as colonoscopies and esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGDs).

The role requires BLS on hire and emphasizes infection control, patient comfort, and safe equipment handling in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize, clean, disinfect and calibrate endoscopes and other endoscopic equipment according to standards and manufacturer guidelines.
• Work alongside physicians and nurses, assisting with the setup and execution of various endoscopic procedures.
• Place devices to monitor vital signs, position patients, and ensure their comfort and safety during procedures.
• Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and transfer to nursing for laboratory analysis.
• Prepare and maintain procedure suites, maintain an orderly environment and ensure a clean and safe work area by stocking supplies and removing soiled equipment.
• Perform safety checks on equipment and assist in the identification and maintenance of equipment, coordinating repairs as needed.
• Demonstrates an understanding of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting endoscopy equipment.
• Assumes responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to approved Structure and Process Standards for select patient population.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of techniques and infection control protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
