Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under direct supervision, performs routine tasks for patients receiving GI procedures, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Assists with clerical duties, housekeeping, instrument reprocessing, and nursing errands. Supports front office tasks as directed by the Nurse in charge.

Charge Nurse

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with direct nursing care under RN supervision.
• Set up equipment and ensure supplies are available.
• Assist physician during procedures; collect, prepare, and label specimens.
• Explain procedures to patients, provide instructions, and support them emotionally and physically during procedures.
• Record vital signs and operate monitoring equipment.
• Report patient observations promptly.
• Follow infection control procedures and uphold safety and quality standards.
• Make post-procedure calls and document all activities accurately.
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Assist with patient admission and discharge procedures.
• Provide backup support in various areas as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills & Experience

RN, LPN, Certified Medical Assistant, or equivalent. Ability to follow policies and procedures, expand skills, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

Physical: Handling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and standing for long periods. Good vision and sensory abilities. Mental: Ability to prioritize and handle multiple directives. Environment: Exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, and electrical hazards, following safety guidelines.
