The Endoscope Technician is responsible for assisting in provision of nursing care and preparation of the endoscopy patient in the Ambulatory Care Unit and/or Surgical Department. The Technician functions as a member of the procedure team in donning personal protective equipment (e.g. gown and gloves), preparing equipment and supplies for use in endoscopy procedures, providing the physician with necessary supplies and equipment during the procedure, cleaning and transporting equipment, and handling specimens collected during the procedure. The Endoscope Technician will deliver care in accordance to age specific categories i.e. neo-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record (EHR) information tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Education and/or Experience: Previous endoscopy experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: The Endoscope Technician must become certified as a Certified Endoscope Reprocess (CER) within six (6) months of hire/transfer. American Heart Association BLS required; May have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
